Neil Shulman, MD, is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine. Among his many responsibilities, he was a former medical director of Pine Knolls nursing home in Carrollton, Georgia, for over twenty-three years. He is an associate professor at Emory University School of Medicine. He has authored or coauthored twenty-five scientific papers. He has also authored over thirty books, including Doc Hollywood, which was made into a major motion picture starring Michael J. Fox. He is also president of Patch Adams’ non-profit organization, the Gesundheit! Institute. He speaks and performs comedy around the world and is “Doc Neil” in a series of television spots that have been distributed to public television stations across the United States and Canada.

Michael Silverman, MD, is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, geriatric medicine, and palliative medicine. He has authored or coauthored more than fifty scientific papers and is a voluntary professor of clinical medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is also a retired colonel in the US Army Reserve since 1972. He is the current president of the Florida Geriatrics Society and the medical director of the Miami Jewish Home and Hospital (one of the largest nursing homes in the Southeast and the site of Florida’s Teaching Nursing Home Program).
